Once filled with dry pepper the mechanism works simply by turning the top part clockwise. Through the knob you can adjust the size of the grind. Clockwise to obtain a finer grind, counter-clockwise to obtain a coarser grind.
This type of mill can not be used with not dried spices like green pepper.
